Dr. Elizabeth Carey Named Assistant Dean of Student Affairs At Xavier University School of Medicine
Dr. Elizabeth C. Carey has been named Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Xavier University School of Medicine, beginning in the Fall 2022 term.
In her role, Dr. Carey will oversee student life at Xavier University School of Medicine. She will work with the Student Government Association, and other organizations and special events, that promote and foster students success, by providing an engaging student experience, and robust student programing. She will oversee the Academic Enhancement program, student mentoring program, faculty development program, and over see student wellness and mental health initiatives.
“I am very excited to begin this new position as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Xavier University School of Medicine, and I would like to thank Mr. Ravi Bhooplapur and Dr. Arun Dubey for this opportunity” said Dr. Elizabeth Carey. “I am excited to work with our great students to provide an engaging and inclusive student experience that will help them on their road to becoming successful doctors and further develop the medical humanities and cultural competency curriculum.”
Dr. Carey received her Ph.D. from Suffolk University in Clinical Psychology with specialization in Neuropsychology. Her training has included evaluating trauma-related and child psychiatric conditions (Boston Medical Center), conducting polytrauma evaluations on returning veterans (Boston VA Medical Center), working with patients with AIDS Dementia and a forensic population (Lemuel Shattuck Hospital), and assessing head trauma, substance use, seizures, and cardiovascular issues (Behavioral Neurology at Beth Israel Medical Center). She worked for eight years in a private neuropsychological practice conducting child and adolescent assessments for learning disabilities. She received a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at South Country Behavioral Medicine focusing on dementia evaluations in a geriatric population.

Dr. Carey’s current research includes EEG, Executive Function, and ADHD in a college population.
